Everyone, I am sorry. I have delayed this drastically due to a number of reasons, but it’s mostly just school-work, forgetfulness, and forgetfulness. I may well put up the final day later today. I promise though, the Top 20 are great, and if you haven’t seen any of them, you should. All of them.
Hello everyone I’m so excited to present you my Top 50 of 2014. This year I’m doing 10 per day so that I can really focus on each individual movie. After it’s over, I’m going to do a few honorable mentions, because let me tell you. I watched 119 movies from this year (and I admit, I missed a few, including A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night which, from what I can tell, probably would have made the Top 20) so it was really difficult to pick from them.
Wow. It may mean very little now, but after I saw Birdman in theaters, I said it would win. Believe me, don’t, I don’t care. I know what I said. I have also said on multiple occasions that it is my favorite film of the year (spoiler for my upcoming top 50 list), so I’m VERY happy about this win. I started watching the Oscars back in 2003, Billy Crystal hosted and Return of the King won. I was amazed. I thought “Hey! They are right! That IS the Best Picture!”
Ohhhhh man the nominees are out officially! There are some surprises and some snubs, as always! Unfortunately, this is not my PREDICTIONS, those will come a bit later (but I promise they will come before the day before the Oscars this year, I’m actually VERY close). This, my dear readers, is my commentary on the nominations. A place where I can provide to you my opinions on the nominations. You know, what surprised, what disappointed, etc. I’m going to be posting a category at a time every day for the next however many days it takes. I’m not going to cover Documentary or Foreign, as I have seen only one movie between both award categories. I’m also not going to cover the shorts because where I live it really is impossible to ever see them. And finally, I won’t be covering the sound awards because I don’t know too much about them. Today I’ll probably try to cover visual effects, production design, costume, cinematography, and makeup & hairstyling. Anyway enough with the pleasantries and onto the pedantry!
Hello everyone sorry for the hiatus! It is Oscar season and I have been hard at work watching all of the necessary films for my predictions! I hope to have them to you earlier than ever this year, and I think I just may be able to make good on that! Anyway I’m making this introductory post to talk about a few of the movies that I think will be nominated. I’ll also spend a bit on acting and other things. This shouldn’t be an extraordinarily long post, so no worries on that.
